Exceptional Light

For the ground floor, we designed a museum-like series of spaces, offering ever-changing views of the water and the surrounding area. The fully glazed facade wraps almost invisibly around the space, creating a contour that, combined with the overhanging superstructure, creates varying degrees of light. To block out heat and sunlight, we used sophisticated sunshades. These sunshades, consisting of horizontal slats, move like shutters and rise like a canopy above the glass facade.

Spatial Unity

The wooden box on the upper floor has several large openings. We designed a void with a skylight above it in the center of the house, while daylight also enters through the windows in the facades. Paintings and sculptures are exhibited in the center of the floor, surrounding the large void. The void creates a spatial unity between the ground floor and the upper floor, while the large skylight above it provides a surprising amount of light on both floors.

Duurzame opzet

In het ontwerp organiseerden we verschillende elementen die leiden tot een grote mate van duurzaamheid. De kern van de duurzaamheid komt naar voren in de opzet van de volumes. Door de overstekende bovenbouw wordt opwarming van het huis voorkomen, ook de doeken weren de warmte van de zon. We vergrootten de duurzaamheid van de houten bouw door de wijze waarop de houten latten ten opzichte van elkaar zijn geplaatst. Doordat de wind tussen de latten doorwaait kan het houd goed droge na een regenbui, dit waarborgt de oorspronkelijke uitstraling en kwaliteit van de houten bovenbouw.

Energiezuinige temperatuurhuishouding

De temperatuurhuishouding wordt op een energiezuinige wijze geregeld door de betonnen kernactivering. In de betonnen vloer lopen waterleidingen die de betonmassa in de zomer koelen en in de winter verwarmen. Dit systeem is gekoppeld aan een aardwarmtesysteem waardoor een enorme hoeveelheid energie kan worden bespaard.
