For over thirty years, Paul de Ruiter Architects has been designing and developing smart buildings that energize you. We design sustainably and are leaders in research and innovation in this field. That's how we think and who we are.
We're always looking for enthusiastic, talented people. If you're interested in joining us, please send a cover letter, CV, and portfolio to employment@paulderuiter.nl. If we're interested, we'll schedule an interview with you, Paul, and one of the other partners.
With around forty specialists, our firm is a close-knit team. We handle only Dutch projects, but we have colleagues from all over the world. We cherish this multi-voiced approach and consider it a definite advantage.
We have been located in a former steel workshop on Amsterdam's Valschermkade for almost twenty years now. We've renovated the building and transformed it into a sustainable office, naturally, that embodies all our values. Practice what you preach. For example, we have a glass facade and atrium that allow ample natural light to enter. The atrium features the Tree Table, an artwork by Anouk Vogel that literally forms the green heart of the building.
The materials we've used in our office are non-toxic, biobased, and we have plants throughout the office because we know people appreciate living greenery. We draw our energy from a source beneath the office. Deep underground, we store cold air in the winter to keep us cool in the summer. Conversely, we capture the summer sun to warm us in the winter. Good insulation does the rest. We're thrilled with our A++ energy label. Summer or winter, you can always wear the same clothes in our office if you want. Paris-proof 2030? We were already Paris-proof in 2008.
The Tree Table, designed for us by artist Anouk Vogel in 2011, is located in the atrium of our office in Amsterdam's Schinkelbuurt neighborhood.
Designing inspiring buildings is our core business. But what we find equally important is a healthy, inspiring work culture within our own company. We are proud to call ourselves a B-Corp. This means we meet high standards of corporate social responsibility. We don't just design sustainably; we also conduct business sustainably. That's how we start the week together on Mondays. For inspiration, learning, and entertainment. We serve vegetarian lunches, you receive a bicycle allowance, and there's always room for initiative, development, fun, and sports activities.
You'll see us pop up at MudMasters, we run the Amsterdam Marathon Business Run every year, and several of our colleagues enjoy bouldering. We regularly organize multi-day excursions, we attend lectures and film festivals, we create surprises for each other every year, and in July we celebrate our now-legendary summer party.
Our annual summer party, in our own front yard.
