As soon as you construct a building, it impacts the flora, fauna, and soil of that location. We integrate greenery, water, and nature into all our designs because we know that biodiversity contributes to the planet's viability and the health of its occupants.
We design green roofs and facades where plants and insects feel at home, and blue roofs where we collect rainwater to prevent the sewer system from becoming overloaded after a downpour. We design courtyards and green spaces that allow animals to roam safely. We assess the need for wadis and retention ponds for natural water management, and we use biobased materials.
What makes the Cartesius project in Utrecht special is that it features green facades on all sides: east, south, west, and north. A unique and appropriate plant selection has been made for each side. Species that thrive in full sun are planted on the south side, and shade- and moisture-loving varieties are planted on the north side. This creates a vibrant and biodiverse ecosystem in the heart of the city.
This is the new ING Linden office in Cumulus Park in Amsterdam Zuidoost. The design allows for biodiversity and water storage, and is ready for a climate-resilient future.
We created one of the first green facades for the Fiep Westendorp primary school in Amsterdam. Unthinkable at the time, now indispensable.
