'Sustainability is not an end in itself, but the natural starting point for an inspiring design'

Having recently graduated cum laude from the Architecture track at TU Delft, I have now started as a Junior Architect in training with the team at Paul de Ruiter Architects. Both during my studies and my internship at IBUKU in Indonesia, I realized that I prefer to design based on a sustainable vision where innovation and creativity converge. People are central to my approach: I enjoy exploring the interplay between design and usage, and how architecture acquires meaning in daily life. How does a design fit into the existing context and the future? At Paul de Ruiter Architects, I find this balance of complexity and simplicity. The art of creating a logical design from a complex brief. What appeals to me is that sustainability here is not an end in itself, but the natural starting point. The true design challenge lies in creating an inspiring, aesthetic, and functional design based on that foundation.
