For me, BIM and 3D modeling are an integral part of the design process. They allow us to realize designs in a smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable way.”
As a technical designer and BIM coordinator at Paul de Ruiter Architects, I use my expertise to shape projects clearly and future-proof from the very first design stage. What particularly appeals to me is that the firm’s sustainability ambition goes beyond the built environment. The B Corp certification emphasizes that responsibility is also taken for social impact and our own footprint. This integrated approach aligns seamlessly with my conviction that good architecture should not only be technically and aesthetically strong, but also future-proof and socially relevant. My experience with BIM began more than twelve years ago, after completing my bachelor’s degree in Architecture at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences with a specialization in building technology. Since then, working in BIM and three-dimensional modeling has been my standard practice. At de Architekten Cie, I gained extensive experience in BIM management and project coordination. I worked on a wide variety of projects there, ranging from the renovation of the Binnenhof to schools, offices, laboratories, and high-rise buildings. I already knew the name Paul de Ruiter during my studies, as a pioneer in sustainable architecture. That reputation, combined with the firm’s social engagement, is what ultimately led me to join Paul de Ruiter Architects.
