Jos Beekhuijzen
Jos began his career in architecture with a strong technical foundation, acquired during his studies at HTS Bouwkunde in Arnhem, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Architecture. This technical expertise forms the backbone of his approach, combining creative design with practical, executable solutions. He then completed his Master's in Architecture at the Technical University of Eindhoven, with an Erasmus year in Valencia. After graduating, Jos worked for two years as an architect at vmc35 estudio de arquitectura in Valencia.
Before joining PDR, Jos worked at renowned firms such as Wiel Arets Architects and Korth Tielens Architects. Here, he was involved in prestigious and complex projects, including the Antwerp Tower and the Van der Valk Hotel Zuidas, which won the BNA Best Building of the Year award. His graduation project, the transformation of the Schellens Factory into a bathhouse, was selected for Dutch Design Week and reflects his passion for creating new, sustainable stories within existing structures.
In his free time, Jos is often found in nature, where he enjoys birdwatching. This hobby nurtures his commitment to sustainability, which aligns perfectly with the vision of Paul de Ruiter Architects. He considers the harmony between nature, people, and the built environment an essential starting point for new design challenges.
In 2024, Jos proudly joined Paul de Ruiter Architects as a Senior Architect. "I was drawn to the firm’s sustainable vision and the reputation PDR has built over the years in this area. Additionally, I feel very much at home in the team with its open and social culture. I look forward to contributing to projects that positively impact both people and the planet."
