I found my way to architecture through the visual arts and interior architecture. I studied Architecture and Professional Practice & Management in Architecture at the Bartlett School of Architecture in London. During and after my studies, I worked at various architectural firms in London. After returning to the Netherlands in 2007, I worked at Koen van Velsen Architects for nineteen years. There, I managed diverse projects from design to realization, including Groningen Station, Huis op Zuid Sports Centre, the entrance building and depot of Paleis Het Loo, and various infrastructure projects for Rijkswaterstaat. Additionally, I was responsible for tenders and acquisition and played an active role in the organizational, financial, and strategic management of the firm. I believe that successful architecture begins with collaboration. As an architect, I see myself as a connector who brings together diverse interests and translates them into widely supported solutions. In doing so, I value listening carefully and asking the right questions more than presenting a persuasive personal opinion. My approach is pragmatic, analytical, and solution-oriented, with an eye for both design quality and process, planning, and execution. I have been working at Paul de Ruiter Architects since 2026. The combination of complex projects, sustainability, and a committed team makes this an inspiring place for me to apply my experience.
