About Paul de Ruiter Architects

Paul de Ruiter Architects is a group of distinctive designers passionate about sustainability and architecture; we have been B Corp certified since 2016. Our firm originated in 1994 from the doctoral research project The Chameleon Skin, in which Paul de Ruiter argued that buildings should generate energy rather than consume it - in both technical and human terms. That conviction has formed the foundation of our work for over thirty years. We are at the forefront of healthy, circular, biodiversity-enhancing, and energy-generating construction, both in the Netherlands and internationally. Our projects range from the self-sufficient Villa Kogelhof to the biobased Biosintrum, the biophilic Langeveld Building, and the transformation of heritage buildings into "Paris Proof" structures, such as C93 in Rotterdam. Our office is located in a renovated steel workshop in Amsterdam’s Schinkel district and is - naturally - sustainable itself. Here, a diverse, international team of approximately 45 architects, designers, and specialists works on future-proof architecture.
