Curious how the largest wooden social housing project in the Netherlands is being realized? Then come visit VB Boschdijk in Eindhoven during the Day of Timber Construction and experience it for yourself!
Construction is underway on the site of the former Philips headquarters on 200 rental apartments, spread across five buildings. The project is being developed and built by Ten Brinke, commissioned by housing corporation Trudo, based on a design by Paul de Ruiter Architects. The most remarkable aspect of this project is the large-scale application of timber construction: we are building with CLT (Cross Laminated Timber), which not only allows us to build faster but also represents a significant step towards more sustainable living. The speed of this construction method is impressive: construction was officially kicked off with the neighborhood in January, and the first CLT element was installed at the end of March. In May, the roof slab of the elevator structure of the first building was already installed, reaching the highest point of the first building.
During Timber Construction Day, we will show you how this process works and why timber construction is the future.
