VB Boschdijk reaches highest point with large-scale CLT timber construction

Afgelopen vrijdag vierden we een grote mijlpaal aan de Boschdijk in Eindhoven. Slechts vier maanden na de start van de bouw werd het hoogste punt van het eerste woongebouw van project VB Boschdijk bereikt. Samen met ontwikkelaar en aannemer Ten Brinke, woningcorporatie Trudo, de gemeente Eindhoven en alle bouwpartners werd stilgestaan bij de razendsnelle voortgang van dit project.
Under the watchful eyes of those present, the roof floor of the elevator structure was installed following the signal from Janko Akkers (Director of Ten Brinke – Helmond branch), Alderman Mieke Verhees, and Edwin Jansen (Director of Trudo). During their review of the first few months, they expressed their pride in this special project.
Sustainable construction at breakneck speed
The VB Boschdijk project is unique in the Netherlands. A total of 200 social rental apartments will be built on the former parking lot of the Philips VB building, distributed across five buildings. What makes this project special is that the buildings are being constructed entirely from CLT (Cross Laminated Timber). This makes it the largest CLT project in the Netherlands being built entirely for the social housing sector. At VB Boschdijk, virtually everything is made of wood, even the elevator core. By building with wood, we store a great deal of CO₂ instead of emitting it. In this way, we ensure a healthy living environment and contribute to a sustainable future for Eindhoven. Moreover, thanks to the prefabricated wooden elements, construction can proceed at a rapid pace. Construction began on January 16, Ten Brinke installed the first wooden element at the end of March, and we have already reached the highest point of the first block.
A green and affordable new neighborhood
The new apartments have a surface area of 50 to 70 m² and are a beautiful addition to the Vredeoord district. The design ensures that the new buildings will blend beautifully into the monumental VB building and the green surroundings. It will be a lively place where you can live comfortably and affordably. Now that the highest point of the first building has been reached, Ten Brinke is immediately starting with the interior finishing. At the same time, they are continuing construction rapidly on the other four residential buildings. Completion is scheduled for 2027.
