Milda Auksele

Architect

Milda received her bachelor's degree in architecture from the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University in Lithuania and subsequently graduated cum laude from the Delft University of Technology. Alongside her studies, she also gained practical experience at a number of highly regarded practices, such as SeARCH Architecture and Urban Planning in Amsterdam, A2SM Architects in Vilnius, Lithuania, and Arkkitehdit Mauri Korkka Kirsti Ratanen in Helsinki, Finland.

"Studying and working in three different countries has taught me a lot about the different facets of architecture. The special attention devoted to wooden construction, craftsmanship and natural materials in Finland really sparked my interest in materials and sustainability. While being in the Netherlands has allowed me to immerse myself in sustainable approaches to architecture.”

Milda combines this international experience and knowledge at Paul de Ruiter Architects.

“Besides my interest in sustainability and in the properties and uses of building materials, I am also fascinated by the way architecture affects our experience of the world, particularly in connection with educational environments. Our assignments include a variety of educational projects that share a common goal, namely our desire to create spaces that actively promote new ways of learning and collaborating. These assignments also allow me to draw on my experiences as a teacher. An example of such projects would be Fontys University’s new building, which stands as a model of the future-proof learning environment. It is an inviting building that operates according to the central idea of its design: the promotion of interaction between students and with nature.”
