Tim Bakker
Tim holds a bachelor's degree in build environment with a specialism in architecture from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. Before coming to Paul de Ruiter Architects, Tim worked at MVSA Architects and Team V Architecture. At the latter, he worked on the renovation of Eindhoven University of Technology’s main building, among other projects, the design of which received an International BREEAM Outstanding certificate for educational and healthcare-dedicated buildings in 2016.
“I learned a lot about sustainability and problem-solving from the design process for the Eindhoven University building. Such as the importance of ensuring that the sometimes complex engineering-related demands of a project do not impinge on its design.”
Tim specialism at Paul de Ruiter Architects is BIM design and construction: this is a virtual methodology that allows the representatives of the various disciplines involved in a building’s construction to work together via a 3D computer model, thereby facilitating optimal collaboration efficiency.
“Being at Paul de Ruiter Architects allows me to use my knowledge of Revit and BIM to assist a young and enthusiastic team in implementing their vision of sustainability and innovation, which are among the important subjects of our time and shaping up to be even more so in the future. I do this by creating visualisations and precedent studies during the design process, preferably at the earliest possible stage. This allows the entire team to have a comprehensive visual representation of the architects’ ideas and ensure the quality of the designs.”
