The first prefab module of Waldorp Four has been successfully installed. With this, the construction of the Netherlands' largest prefab residential project has officially entered a new phase.
The first module was transported from the Ursem Modulaire Bouwsystemen factory to the construction site in The Hague, where construction teams from Ballast Nedam West and Heddes Bouw & Ontwikkeling hoisted it onto the substructure. The placement of this first module marks the official start of the modular structural assembly. A total of 1,748 prefabricated modules will be installed, making Waldorp Four one of the largest and tallest modular residential projects in the Netherlands.
Waldorp Four is taking shape on a compact inner-city site between The Hague Holland Spoor station and the MegaStores complex. The project comprises 1,171 homes and demonstrates how modular construction can contribute to efficient, high-quality, large-scale residential development in urban areas. The project is being delivered by Heddes Bouw & Ontwikkeling and Ballast Nedam West, utilizing modular units from Ursem Modulaire Bouwsystemen, alongside Schouten Techniek, Paul de Ruiter Architects, and Pieters. The client and developer is SUSTAY. The homes are being built for Greystar, DUWO Student Housing, and Arcade Mensen en Wonen.
